How to Reach IIT Hyderabad
Below are the detailed directions to help you reach the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) from various key locations in the city. Choose the most convenient mode of transport for your journey.
From Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (64 km)
If you are arriving by air, follow these directions:
- Take the Airport Approach Road and head towards Gandiguda to join the Outer Ring Road (ORR).
- Continue on the ORR, heading towards Muthangi. Take exit 3 from the ORR.
- Drive along Mumbai Highway (NH 9) for approximately 15 km. The IITH signboard will appear on your right-hand side.
From Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (54 km)
If you're arriving by bus, follow these directions:
- Head north towards Mumbai Highway (NH 65).
- Proceed via Kukatpally and Patancheruvu, following the ORR towards Mumbai Highway (NH 65).
- Take the exit for Mumbai Highway (NH 65) and continue for 15 km.
- The IITH signboard will be visible on your right-hand side.
From Secunderabad Railway Station (50 km)
If you are arriving by train, follow these directions:
- Take SD Road to Mahatma Gandhi Road (NH 7) in Hyderabad.
- Follow NH 7 to Old Airport Road, passing through New Bowenpally.
- Continue on Old Airport Road and head towards Bhavani Nagar.
- Drive to Mumbai Highway (NH 65) and continue for 15 km. The IITH signboard will be on your right side.
From Hitech City (38 km)
If you are traveling from Hitech City, follow these directions:
- Take Gachibowli – Miyapur Road to NH65 in Hafeezpet (approximately 19 minutes, 6.9 km).
- Drive to NH65 in Kandi, and continue for about 15 km until you see the IITH signboard on your right side.
Metro Route
If you prefer to take the metro, follow these steps:
- Start from the Secunderabad-East Metro Station (approximately 600 meters from Secunderabad Railway Station).
- Purchase a ticket to Miyapur Station, but note that you will need to change metros at Ameerpet Station.
- At Ameerpet, board a metro towards Miyapur Station.
- From Miyapur Station, take a bus to Patancheru Bus Stop.
- Finally, take a bus to Sangareddy Town, where you will find the IITH signboard on your right-hand side.
MMTS Route
If you're using the MMTS suburban train service, here’s how to proceed:
- Take an MMTS train from Secunderabad Railway Station to Lingampally Railway Station.
- From Lingampally Railway Station, take a bus to Lingampally Bus Stand.
- From there, take a bus to Patancheru Bus Stand, and then another bus to Sangareddy Town.
- The IITH signboard will be visible on your right-hand side.
